Labor Day 2023

“Hey I have the day off, do you guys want to do something fun?” Well the answer is always yes, especially when Trey and Mackenzie ask us to do something with them. So on Labor Day 2023, we “labored” up the side of a mountain to see a spectacular view. Mackenzie said this hike was on her bucket list to do and it did not disappoint. The hike was moderately difficult with steps, rocks, stumps, and  […]

09.03.2023

Something about this cooler weather just makes me want to write more. I started writing poetry at this time last year to process some of the grief I was working through and found so much healing in it. This year, I’m enjoying writing prose. It started as updating and adding content to my website to match where I am currently, and has morphed into blog post after blog post being drafted and scheduled to post. […]

Hello Again

Hi friend! Welcome back. To me and to you. It’s been a while. How’s life? What’s one thing you’re loving right now?  I’m loving this blip of fall weather we’ve had. I’m loving the healing and freedom that comes after a hard season. I’m loving being a witness to God’s providence in our lives up close.  Knowing where we were a year ago, facing a cancer diagnosis and in the middle of so much loss, […]

ReThink: How To Dream

I’ve forgotten how to dream. I’ll be the first to admit that. In college, when Dusten and I started dating, he says he was most attracted to my sense of adventure. My fearlessness about the future and sense of adventure were with me through college and probably early into my marriage when we renovated our house. But somewhere along the way, somewhere in the mundane day-to-day life of wake, parent, work, parent, sleep cycle I’ve […]

Brian’s First Birthday

Is there anything cuter than a one-year-olds birthday party?? This weekend we day-tripped to Fayetteville for Brian’s birthday party. Brian is the firstborn of Jon and Susan (Dusten’s sister). He’s a miracle worth celebrating!! Susie created the cutest Harry Potter themed first birthday party complete with Sorting Hats, Huffle Puffs, and Professor Sprouts Garden. Susie creates unforgettable parties! We finished the party with Brian trying his first cupcake. I’d say it was a success!! Thanks […]

ReDesign: Noodle Fun Bowl

When Dusten and I first got married, we ate a lot of cheep food. I mean, we ate well, but it was on a tight budget. I also was not gluten free and not strict on my dairy intake at the time. One night, I had a pound of ground beef, a box of noodles, a can of peas and carrots and a craving for Alfredo Sauce. I’m big into bowls or all the food […]

Birthday and Anniversary in Winston-Salem, NC

For the past several years I’ve wanted to visit NYC for my thirtieth birthday. Then covid happened and the world shut down and unfortunately Broadway is still not open yet. Plus, whenever I’ve flown recently, I’ve gotten sick, so NYC no longer had a strong appeal. I then began looking for something all-inclusive within the continental US. We considered driving to Rosemary Beach, FL and 30A (#30on30A sounded fun), but a 10 hour drive from […]

Welcome to Thirty!

Hey Friends! I’m so glad you’re here. If you’re seeing this, then either you’ve scrolled back to the beginning or you’re one of my first official visitors. Either way, I’m privileged to have the opportunity to share a bit of my life with you. Today is my Thirtieth birthday! I can’t think of a better way to launch my 30’s than with a new blog. Looking back, my twenties shaped me in ways for which […]
